The Sundown Audio ZV712D2 is the 12-inch, dual 2-ohm model of the Z v.7, the third step in Sundown's 2025 ultra-high excursion subwoofer lineup after the M and X v.4. It is built on Sundown's custom tooled, patented mega-platform frame and drives a quad stacked 265mm (10.43-inch) motor with a 100mm magnet stack, a hyper-extended pole and enough clearance for over 4 inches of peak-to-peak travel before mechanical bottom. Motor force factor (BL^2/RE) is about 50% higher than the Z v.6.
The 3.3-inch, 4-layer round wire aluminum voice coil sits on a thick aluminum former and uses Sundown's fat wire winding to handle heavy power. Cooling comes from a patent-pending airflow directing pole cap, six pole OD channels, sixteen gap vents and a cross-drilled, slotted top plate. A 9mm magnet ID Faraday ring and a pole-extension inductance sleeve keep inductance linear.
With a 95mm voice coil winding length, the Z v.7 reaches 42mm of one-way linear excursion by 70% BL. It is designed for deep, low-distortion bass from small ported enclosures and fits the same boxes commonly used for Sundown mega-platform subwoofers.
